We get a lot of phone calls from people very concerned about the amount of mould constantly impacting their possessions and furniture and if there is something wrong with their home that is causing it.

When we do not find any sign of mould ingress on the likes of ceilings and walls due to building leaks or water ingress, this is usually a clear indication that the mould ingress is due to several contributing factors.

Other things to check on and do are:

 • Ensure the home is aired regularly

 • During periods of heavy rain/humidity, if you have an air conditioner, close up the home and set the A/C to dry cycle. Great idea to do this if you are heading out for the day.

 • Check to see if there is plenty of sunlight making its way into the home. As needed and practicable prune nearby vegetation to increase sunlight into the home.

 • Always make sure clothes are dry and shoes before putting them away.

 • Check for dust and mould build up behind all beds and furniture that is resting against walls.
